For my second project, I researched the Hindu Ayurvedic healing techniques. The main perspective of this project was from the Hindus and their beliefs. But, while researching, not only did I find important people, figures and facts, I also found a long lasting conflict affecting the culture itself.

ArtFor art, I made a sculpture of the god of Ayurveda. The perspective came from the beliefs behind the different details of the sculpture.

Art
For art, I made a sculpture of the god of Ayurveda, Dhanvantari. The perspective came from the beliefs behind the different details of the sculpture such as the objects Dhanvantari holds. He holds a conch shell, a leech, a vase of immortality and a chakra. The vase is self explanatory and the chakra is a common item across all gods and avatars, but the real interesting items are the leech and conch. Leeches have been an iconic tool in ancient medicine believed to suck out "sick blood". The conch shell is believed to be the symbol of creation in Hindu culture.

For English, I read the book "The Hidden Secret of Ayurveda" and filled out a book chart while reading. The perspective came from the beliefs behind each of the quotes I recorded from the book. Below is that book chart that I filled out while reading. I wrote down key points, ideas and facts along with their quote and the perspective of the hindus that follow the idea. This product captured the perspective on these ideas of both the author and those of hindu culture.
